I'm Krissie Ivings, a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, and author.
I offer Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (Hypno-CBT®) for any issues where mindset gets in the way of accessing abilities or improving, such as exams or public speaking, as well as for weight management, lifestyle change, stress reduction, anxiety management, and enhancing commitment, motivation and positivity.
I am regulated by the HCPC and BPS. All my work is evidence based, and adheres to strict ethical codes
My background
Alongside being a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, I am also the author of Tame the Chimp, Shoot the Parrot, Silence the Mouse – a book about overcoming mental blocks to achievement in sport and life – and the recently released Smoke Free, Vape Free, Nicotine Free, EASILY. I was the Head of Psychological Services when working for CAMHS and also held Clinical Lead roles for NHS England, pioneering new ways of working across Greater Manchester and East Cheshire to offer rapid effective support. I am a member of the Senior Leadership Board for the UK College of Hypnotherapy, and deliver training and supervision for the college.
For over 30 years, I’ve worked in the NHS and independent practice, helping people of all ages improve mental wellbeing, build resilience, and create lasting change. My experience spans Adult Mental Health, CAMHS, Addictions, Health & Wellbeing services, and Equine Assisted Therapy, achieving senior leadership roles everywhere I have worked due to my passionate commitment and extensive experience.
My work is deeply personal. I’ve faced my own challenges - including a phobic fear of jumping horses after a rotational cross country fall, PTSD & depression - and overcome them to live more fully and with joy. I use the same tools and strategies in my own life that I share with clients, blending professional expertise with lived experience.
I support people of all ages to quit smoking, manage weight, improve sleep, achieve fitness and performance goals, and strengthen emotional resilience - making change easier, sustainable, and life-enhancing.
At Aspire Lifestyle, I help people achieve meaningful lifestyle goals such as weight management, better health habits, improved sleep, and lasting positive change. Hypnotherapy supports motivation, mindset, and confidence to build healthier routines and feel more in control. I also offer sessions for issues where mindset impacts wellbeing and performance, including stress and anxiety reduction, improving mood, boosting confidence, and overcoming challenges like public speaking fears or exam nerves.
After 25 years working as a clinical psychologist across the range of health and wellbeing services, I decided to explore hypnotherapy. I already had good outcomes with clients, but felt that hypnotherapy might add even more value. Hypnotherapy is an unregulated profession, but as a consultant chartered psychologist regulated by the HCPC and BPS, it was important to me to choose a course that adhered to the evidence-base and the highest ethical standards. This is why I trained at the Prestigious UK College of Hypnotherapy. They blend proven cognitive and behavioural approaches with the power of hypnosis. The results blew my mind!
I found hypnotherapy made treatment quicker and more effective. I now use hypnotherapy in almost all my work, and use self-hypnosis extremely regularly to improve my own health and wellbeing and achieve my goals. Since gaining my Diploma I have worked for the college as a trainer & supervisor, and am a member of their Senior Leadership Board developing new Hypno-CBT materials and delivering training.

Qualifications
Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy.
